Analytic Solutions for Dusty Shock Waves.

AIAA Journal, Vol 32, No 5, May 1994, pp. 979-984.

Summary.
Exact analytical solutions are obtained for the flow of a gas carrying dust particles through a shock wave. These solutions are applicable for particular values of the dust loading ratio and heat capacity. The solutions demonstrate the types of flow which can occur and provide a series of solutions wich can be used to validate numerical methods for computing dusty shock flows.

Comment
For particular combinations of the shock wave strength and dust particle size and temperature, the dusty shock wave equations yield analytical solutions. These solutions span the range of solution types which occur and demonstrate relationships between the variables which enable some of the unexpected features in the flow to be more readily understood. A more detailed discussion and examples of calculated dusty shock wave flows can be found in:-
